Field Trip Expectations

Participation in all trips is a privilege, not a right. Therefore, any student who accumulates any of the following will not be permitted to participate in field trips: 

* Out-of-school suspension: 2 or more days up to and including the date of departure.

* WASP: 4 assigned prior to the date of departure.

* School and Lunch Detentions: 15 total school and lunch assigned prior to the date of departure.

* Unexcused Absences: A student may not accumulate 5 consecutive unexcused absences during the school year, a total of 7 unexcused absences in a month, and/or 12 unexcused absences in one school year.

Receiving an F in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd quarters in two core classes (Language Arts, Math, Science, Social Studies) Grade restriction applies to 8th Grade Washington, D.C. trip ONLY

*Note:  Any student removed from the Washington, D.C. trip for disciplinary reasons prior to departure will receive a full refund of any money paid toward the trip, except for the initial deposit.

Departure Date: Monday, May 13, 2024 (morning) 
Return Date: Friday, May 17, 2024 (evening) 

 Chaperones:  Middle School teachers/staff only, one (1) per 15 students. There will also be two administrators in the group. (The trip cost listed for adults is for chaperones.)

Cost: The cost of the 2024 Trip will be $948.00 for quadruple occupancy ( 4 students to a room).  The Full Refund Program (Trip Insurance) is an additional  $139.00, this fee covers cancellation -See Terms and Conditions at www.worldstrides.com/ms-terms-conditions

The final day to register for the 2024 Trip will be on Friday, November 3, 2023.

The final payment will be due, on February 28, 2024.

Final School Fee Payments are also due (you can make payments throughout the school year).

 

Financial Aid:  Several types are available.  Some require participation in all fundraising activities if available.  This is NOT intended to pay for your student’s entire trip.

*The trip cost includes the following: Transportation, Admission Fees, 24-Hour Emergency Support, All Meals, Hotel Accommodations, Accident/Health Insurance, Online Resources, Evening Activities, Night Chaperones, and Course Leaders.

DATES OF INTEREST

  • August 2023 - 8th-Grade Parent/Guardian Meeting

  • School-sponsored fundraisers are not guaranteed for the 2023/2024 school year

  • November 3, 2023 - The last day to register for the trip - Registration will not be accepted after this date -  There will be No Extensions

  • November/December - Scholarship Opportunities

  • February 28, 2024 - All money is due to WorldStrides -  All School Fees are also due (Payment arrangements can be made throughout the school year)

  • February/March - Roommate assignments are made by each team

  • April/May - Final Parent/Guardian Meeting

  • May 13th:  Departure from the KELC between 5:30 a.m. - 6:45 a.m.  Details will be emailed to families with specific details and staggered times per team

  • May 13th - 17th - Tour the Washington, DC area

  • May 17th - Return to Northmont Middle School at approximately 11:30 p.m.

School Fee Expectation 

In order for your child to attend the 8th Grade Washington, DC  trip in May 2024, all school fees must be paid in full by the final payment deadline for the DC trip.  For the 2024 trip, that date will be February 28, 2024. Payment arrangements can be made by contacting the middle school office at (937) 832-6500.
